Mocha is a gorgeous, adult, female German Shepherd Dog. We estimate that she's probably 4-5 years old. Mocha tested negative for heartworms, she's spayed, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccinations.
Her structure and appearance suggests that she likely comes from working lines: she has the thick-boned, strong, straight-backed look of DDR (East German) lines. Mocha also has the personality of these lines: intelligent, dominant, protective of her people, with high prey drive. She's not an appropriate "starter dog" for a first-time Shepherd owner, but she's an incredible dog for an experienced GSD lover who appreciates and understands this kind of dog.
Mocha is great with people and kids of all ages, even very young children. She is watchful, loyal, and confident. While she enjoys meeting new people, she genuinely desires her owner to work with her and establish a deep level of trust and compassion. Once this connection is made, she is very loving and devoted to her family. Mocha is ready to settle down, and find her forever family.
Although fantastic with people, her high prey drive means she has a keen interest in chasing other animals that run from her. For this reason, she cannot live with other small animals. We strongly prefer to place Mocha as an "only dog" in a home where she can bond deeply with her person, without competing for attention with another dog. However Mocha is social and likes to interact with other dogs at the dog parks.
Because Mocha is an "alpha female" who requires an experienced handler, we highly encourage a professional training reference. Mocha is looking for a breed-experienced adopter who understand the "drive" of working line dogs--especially prey-drive. At a minimum, she needs a daily walk and commitment to completing training courses to keep her curious and active mind focused on working with her owner. She has the potential to thrive doing advanced obedience, or dog sports. She is already house-trained and crate-trained.
