Red Stick German Shepherd Rescue
Name: Raven

Sex: F
Age: 1
Heartworm: Y (in treatment)
Adoption Fee: $200

Raven is a beautiful, young black adolescent female. We believe she is either a purebred Malinois or a Malinois/Dutch Shepherd cross. She's a phenomenal dog for an experienced owner who understands working breeds.

We believe she's barely a year old (if even that old). She still has the wiggly energy of a young, playful dog, though she settles nicely when it's time to do that.

Raven is one of the most intelligent dogs we've seen come through rescue (and we see a lot of smart dogs!). She also is extremely "biddable"--meaning she learns eagerly, to please her people. She works for praise (instead of treats). She delights in learning a new skill. She picks up new things with lightening speed, and her brain is constantly working. She's naturally curious and "busy."

Raven is all about her people. She loves to snuggle and play. She's also a marvelous walking companion. She sticks right next to her person, usually without any leash pulling, She's interested in critters she sees on walks, but she's good about learning to take her person's cues when to ignore them.

Raven needs a job. She is versatile and athletic. Her nose is always on the ground outside. We think she would excel in Schutzhund/IPO. She would also be a star in agility or any other dog sport. Her mind and working drive craves a challenge, so we would very much like to see her in a home that appreciates the stellar potential this dog has.

She is house-trained and crate trained.

When she gets excited, she still displays puppy exuberance, including some typical 'young dog' mouthiness. We thus think she's not suited to a home with very young kids. This behavior has been diminishing in her foster home has learned to redirect her mouthiness to toys. Raven is very playful with other friendly dogs her size. She plays pretty rough (as is typical of adolescents of her breed), so we recommend placing her with dogs her own size or bigger.

A completed adoption application, with vet and personal references, and a home check are required to adopt Raven. If you are interested in adopting Raven, please fill out an adoption application. All adoptions are approved solely at the discretion of the RSGSR board of directors.
